    2026 Completed Books

    Hello,

I figured I would start this thread and we can list what we have read this year. I made my resolution to get through 12 books this year, knocked that out earlier than I thought. Now, I want to see how many I can get through.
    1. The Fellowship of the Ring
    2. The Two Towers
    3. The Return of the King
    4. Frankenstein
    5. In the Mouth of Madness
    6. The Haunting of Hill House
    7. The Damnation Game
    8. Hell House
    9. Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde
    10. Of Mice and Men
    11. The Legend of Sleepy Hallow
    12. Neverwhere
    13. The Silmarillion

I often think back to both Neverwhere and Damnation Game, and they were both classics.

Indeed, I'm thinking of re-reading the Barker book, as I forget so much about it (other than having loved it).

100% why I reread them, remember loving them but it had been 20 years. They both hold up well.

You know, on the topic of books I re-read, I think the last one was Edward Lee's Bighead.

It was an absolute trip, wonderfully written but situated in the deep end of extreme horror. I'd highly recommend reading it to horror fans, but it's awfully deep waters for casual fans.

Just curious, Jonesie: Of Mice and Men is a little different from the others. Any backstory to that? Not that you can't read non-horror or fantasy.

Honestly yeah, I read it in high school, remember it being a good book, and love the Malkovitch and Sinise movie, so I wanted to give it a read.

I just downloaded Wolf Hunt by Jeff Strand.

For those who never read Strand, he's fun. They call him the Clown Prince of Horror, in that he uses so much comedy in his stuff, but his work can be heartfelt at times. Dweller was an absolute classic.

              Oh cool.

I have my next fee already staged and ready to go.
              • Max Brooks - The Zombie Survival Guide (50% done with it now)
              • Nick Cave - The Death of Bunny Monroe
              • Alan Schwartz - Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (1-3) # counting as one book
              • Clive Barker - Cabal
              • Clive Barker - Hellbound Heart
              • Max Brooks - World War Z
              • Douglas Adams - Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Contains all 5 books)
              • Max Brooks - Devolution
At some point I also have the following
              • Psych's Guide to Crime Fighting (Yep it's a book on crimefighting written by the fictional characters of the show)
              • Martha Wells - Murderbot Series
              • James A Corey - Expanse Series
              • William Gibson - Nueromancer (Sprawl Trilogy)
              • Clive Barker - Books of Blood 1-6
              • J.R.R. Tolkien - Tales of Middle Earth (12 book series)
A kindle might be the best invention ever.
